Nurturing learning and leadership from childhood through adolescence shapes long-term wellbeing, confidence and social participation. ESAF Foundation partners with schools, families and community institutions to build systems that support learning, emotional literacy and leadership. Our programmes focus on children and young people from marginalised communities, including girls, tribal groups and those with disabilities. We work to ensure equitable access to safe spaces, quality education and opportunities for expression.

Rural communities hold rich traditions, resilient skills and untapped potential. Yet across tribal regions and interior villages, livelihoods remain uncertain, especially for women and youth. ESAF Foundation’s integrated rural development initiatives focus on building skills, developing local enterprise and expanding market opportunities. By combining traditional knowledge with modern training and institutional partnerships, we enable rural populations to shape pathways to sustainable growth, improved incomes and community wellbeing.

Across India’s rural and semi-urban regions, women and young people often carry ambition that far outpaces opportunity. ESAF Foundation bridges this gap by equipping individuals from marginalised communities with skills and support through targeted training, enterprise development and tailored advisory services. Programmes build local expertise in agriculture, livestock care and clean energy, turning learning into income and entrepreneurship into lasting stability.

Urban growth in India presents both opportunity and urgency to embed inclusion, resilience, and equity into city systems. ESAF Foundation works with Urban Local Bodies, planning departments, and civil society to strengthen urban development through inclusive public space design, sustainable mobility, and participatory planning. Our interventions prioritise vulnerable user groups, including persons with disabilities, children, street vendors, and non-motorised commuters, to ensure cities are safe, accessible, and responsive for all.

Farming remains a precarious livelihood in rural India, marked by ecological stress, unstable returns, and weak market access. ESAF Foundation works to shift this reality by focusing on smallholder, tribal, and women farmers. Through Farmer Producer Organisations, and dairy value chains, its programmes build collective strength, local ownership, and economic resilience. The approach is practical, participatory, and places farmers at the centre of long-term solutions.

In rural and underserved communities, poor health often goes unspoken until it becomes life-threatening. ESAF Foundation addresses this with a comprehensive approach to healthcare, from mental health awareness and community-based prevention to institutional care and frontline training. We bridge gaps by reaching those excluded from routine systems, integrating community insight with professional support to ensure health is a shared right.

Rural communities are facing the frontline impacts of climate change, including longer dry spells, rising living costs and growing uncertainty around energy access and use. ESAF Foundation responds by helping communities adopt solar power, switch to clean fuels and build climate-smart livelihoods. These are practical, everyday shifts that improve lives. Lasting change begins when people lead, and when solutions fit the realities they live with.

Disasters disrupt more than infrastructure. They fracture routines, income, and the quiet systems people rely on to live with dignity. ESAF Foundation responds with urgency and care, reaching those at the margins of relief systems. Whether the crisis is flood, pandemic or climate-driven, our work extends beyond aid to long-term rehabilitation. We rebuild homes, restore livelihoods and strengthen local capacity to ensure communities emerge more prepared than before.
